Dear Neighbor:
Just so you know, setting off your 4th of July fireworks on July 2nd is still too early.
And setting them off at 12:15am on July 2nd is REALLY uncool.
You should know that I'm not above shoving a sparkler up your nose and lighting it.
Good night.
And God Bless America.

My Girl
I'm standing on the driveway watching Quinn confidently walk down the street to a friend's house. Actually it's a cross between walking and skipping. She's wearing a white T-shirt, purple skort, fuschia Crocs and a rainbow necklace in the shape of a peace sign (she loves that necklace). Her hair bounces in one solid wave as she moves down the road. And my heart is hurting a little bit. I know it's important for her social development, self-esteem and blah, blah, blah to do this. But I don't like it. If I had my way, I'd keep her snuggled up to me forever and she'd never resent me for it.
She stops at the corner, turns around, and blows me a kiss. She waits to catch the kiss I throw back then disappears around the corner. I stand there a little bit longer stunned by her beauty. Amazed with her soul. I know she only has to walk about 50 more feet to her friend's house but I still offer up a little prayer asking for safety while I can't see her. A few seconds later I'm surprised to see that gorgeous blond head peek back around the corner. She points to herself, crosses her arms over her chest, and points at me.
I love you, too. My Quinn-girl.

It's The Little Things #3
Going on a date with Jared:
1 - Eating Japanese food because we know the kids would never eat it with us. Rice doesn't go over well at our house.
2 - Going to the local outdoor and "cowboy" store and realizing that no matter how romantic Pioneer Woman makes it look - I doubt we will ever take care of horses. Then we saw an instrument called "The Emasculator" and I doubt we'll ever take care of calves either. On the bright side, they had Skechers shoes for the kids at half the price. Go figure.
3 - Driving around in the rain to look at all the fancy neighborhoods - and still being content with our small home.
4 - Singing John Denver's "Country Roads" with Jared. I impressed myself with my harmonizing. Of course Jared's the singer and he didn't say anything. One of the reasons I love him. He lets me stay deluded.

It's The Little Things #2
I like to wear an apron when I cook or bake.
Not just to keep my clothes clean but also for that moment when I've washed the last dish and I can lift up the end of the apron and dry my hands.

It's The Little Things #1
I'm starting a new feature on 'Never 2 Comfortable'
It's called "It's The Little Things" and it's about random things that make me happy.
Here's the first one:
Jared playing "The Spinning Song" on the piano and
watching and hearing kids run in from all over the house to spin
until they collapse
And I even like the part where Jared tries to play something different and Grayson whines and screams until Jared plays "The Spinning Song" again

Memorial Day Weekend
We couldn't let the weekend pass without grilling some kind of meat. The only problem being we haven't bought a BBQ yet. That didn't stop Jared. He just whipped up this firepit Saturday morning and that night we roasted hot dogs and s'mores. Grayson loved it. Hopefully he'll have a better sense of spatial awareness soon.
