Last weekend we took the kids to see "Speed Racer". I'm finding it increasingly difficult to persuade my 1st grader to wait until we can rent it. The movie was entertaining and a good rental. Although, Benjamin (the above mentioned 1st grader) LOVED it and Quinn clapped and cheered at the end of the races. The movie is most definitely geared to the 6-9 year old age group (there is a chimpanzee in the movie and we all know what chimps can do with their stinkie...). I liked all of the bright colors they decorated their homes with and wore on their bodies and in their hair. Most of the movie was shot in front of a green screen which kind of bugged me because the inserted special effects were really fast and hard to follow. I also liked Christina Ricci's performance as 'Trixie' and John Goodman was an excellent 'Pops'. Overall, very entertaining and only rated 'PG' so a good family film.
